Reflection

Challenges

Professionally during this internship, I faced challenges not working within a larger team. Although Cheryl was able to provide feedback, I think it benefits me to work with others in the same department, which will allow me to easier bounce ideas off each other, as well as gain different perspectives

Culturally, I think working in this environment was challenging, but also rewarding at time. As far as academics, I have noticed a significant amount less of work assigned here, where back home, my business classes ask for a lot. Additionally, it has been evident that Italians are fairly more relaxed, and Cheryl is different being that she is English. Difficult at first, but eye-opening now.

Personally I faced challenges. I have never traveled a lot, and certainly never left the country. I chose Sorrento over a larger program as a means to immersed in a city, and I feel like I have accomplished that. Assimilating to the culture, and being away from what is comfortable has been challenging, but has  helped me grow more independent and confident in both work, academics and life in general.

Successes

Skills and qualities I gained through this internship include becoming more culturally accepting (firsthand), obviously more marketing experience, and ability to work in an extremely intimate environment. I think this experience has and will help me in the future to be comfortable in any profession setting in regards to size.

Benefits

This internship has provided me the credit I need for my business major, and aids me in getting one step closer to graduating on time. Additionally, I have received more marketing experience, which will benefit me if I ever decide to pursue marketing as a career. Not to mention, the skills I have gained while being abroad.
